Half Day Wet Felting Class for Two Students Basics of Wet Felting - Wet felting is like magic – you lay down feltable natural fibers and with soap, water and controlled agitation a strong, gorgeous fabric emerges. Successful felting is the result of the right fibers and techniques. You will make 3 samples to understand shrinkage, how to lay out fibers, the amount of water and soap to use, type of agitation and how much agitation is needed, and finishing. The three samples: wet felt with alpaca and/or merino, nuno felt square, and template resist sample using the wet felter. Price include materials and instruction sheet. Full Day Wet Felting Class for Two Wet Felted Hat - You will learn basic felting techniques as you make your own felted cloche or brimmed hat. Detail to fiber selection, layout, felting techniques and embellishments will be covered in this class. All materials are included. Lunch is provided. Dye Day Class for Two Beginning Dyeing - Animal Fibers with Acid Dye. Acid dyes are used to dye animal or protein fibers such as wool, mohair, alpaca and silk. We will prepare our fiber - which can be fleece, roving, yarn or wool fabric - by soaking in a vinegar bath, prepare the dye by dissolving powder in hot water, apply dye to the fiber and then let the magic happen. All materials are supplied which includes 2 oz. silk roving or noils, 4 oz. of wool or alpaca roving and a 4 oz. skein of yarn. Class is held outdoors under a roof. Wear closed toed shoes and old clothes. For half day classes students may bring a sack lunch and for full day classes lunch is provided.
